A recap of 2005…
The Kellys’ luck went from bad to worse. They
couldn’t win a race, heck, they could hardly finish
a race. Team Manager Calvin Tibbins’ “brilliant”
idea to bring in Formula One star Armani Riggio was
like putting a “hound dog in a row boat,”
as crew chief Tex very correctly said.
Team owner Joe Kelly flat out refused to let his daughter
Trish drive and their options were pretty much exhausted.
But these “titanic fiascos” did a turn around
when Joe and Denny took to the track in the season finale
and got some attention from new sponsors. Suddenly,
team Kelly was back in business and slowly improving
their finishes with the help of new Crew Chief Dick
Thompson.
Not so fast: Trish was not about to sit on the sidelines
and she hooked up with Billy Riggs to field a secret
car on the short track circuit. She wins and when Joe
found out, something smelly hits the fan and The Kellys
are not a very happy bunch these days. Even Chip Kelly,
the great peacemaker, can’t smooth this over.
With pressure from the new sponsors and their rep Troy
Walker (Isaac Hayes), bad advice from bartender Dee
(Camryn Manheim), and a cool head from star driver Kevin
Harvick, they just might get through this. But it won’t
be easy! And, as always, their arch rival, Jeb McSwain
works behind the scenes to make their lives just about
as miserable as he can.
In the next eight episodes you can see this knot ravel
and unravel. Enjoy!
Tune in every Wednesday for a new
episode.
